ELIGIBILITY
- A candidate for graduation from High School or earned a GED.
- Candidate must currently have at least an 80 weighted average.
- Candidate must be enrolled or accepted to a post-secondary institution.
- Must be a family member.
CRITERIA
- An application
- The candidate will submit an essay over the following topic:
In 500 words or less state your specific educational plans and career goals and why? What inspires you to achieve them? Also, explain the importance of family in your life. Please provide specific examples.
- For first time applicants for the scholarship, they must submit two letters of recommendations. (If they have received this scholarship in the past, they do not need to submit this again unless they have dropped out of school and are restarting.
o One from teacher
o One from relative
o Transcript of current grades
PROCEDURE
- Attached application must be uploaded by June 1st,2025.
- One letters of recommendation must be submitted by June 1st, 2025.
- All questions must be answered completely.
- Include a copy of your School Transcript and Activity Sheet. The Activity Sheet should reflect school and community activities, as well as any awards and recognition you have received in these activities.
- Applicants’ documents with reviewed by the Family Reunion Steering Committee and 4 of this year’s top applicants will be received 500-dollar scholarships.
- This year’s Scholarship will be presented by July 31, 2025, or at family reunion on years where there is a family reunion.
- Students receiving scholarships must submit receipts proving that the scholarship was used for tuition, housing, books, or school fees.
These receipts must be sent via mail or emailed to levi.young@live.com by February 28, 2025. Failure to send in receipts with result in the exclusion of students for all future scholarships.
